With the forthcoming version of XMD-S, you will be able to automatically export plates and custom components for machining, and configure the exporting to optimize your company operations! The Power of Automation
Before this tool, the export process was a laborious process of selecting a solid, adding the holes, choosing a format, naming the file, and repeating for every plate and custom component, for every revision you put out to the shop.
Now, with preconfiguration and a bit of automation, most of the stuff can be done automatically. The new Plate Export dialog (pictured on the right) will fill in most of the information automatically. You only need to pick which plates you want output, check a box, and type in a couple fields. The file names are generated automatically, to your standards, automatically incorporating plate codes, job name, date, or whatever you need. The plates are automatically put out to IGES, STEP, or whatever format, including the holes you require and the format you specify.

An essential part of this automation is that most of what you want is pre-configured. With the XMD configuration is a new page for configuring plate export. XMD has seven different types of file name fields that it can fill out automatically, and three custom fields to help you with the fields it can’t.
Once configured, the plate export process becomes little more than a few clicks!
